As a child, Marco Di Marzio first approached music by strumming his father’s mandolin, then at a very young age he continued by studying classical guitar. At around 15 years of age he encountered the electric bass and later the double bass.
He soon emerged both as an extremely versatile musician and multi-instrumentalist, and also as an excellent arranger. In fact, he was playing since a very young age in many jazz groups, collaborating with top-level artists including: Ozone trio with Marco Di Battista and Pierluigi Esposito, Michael Rosen, Robert Bonisolo, Stefano Di Battista, Ellade Bandini, Bepy D’Amato, Massimiliano Coclite , Alessia Martegiani, Fabrizio Mandolini, Diana Torto, Roberto Torto, Cristian Panetto, Fabio Colella, Claudio Filippini and many others.
Meanwhile his artistic path crossed paths with many Italian artists like Mogol, Vinicio Capossela, Renzo Arbore, Gegè Telesforo, Stefano Bollani, Petra Magoni, Morgan, John De Leo, Simona Molinari, Silvia Mezzanotte, Luca Velletri, Michele Luppi, Ricky Portera, Massimo Fumanti, Handi Hug, Giovanna Famulari, Nicola “Setak” Pomponi, Paolo Giordano, Maurizio Rolli, Maurizio Di Fulvio, Valeria Solarino, Matteo Caccia, Violante Placido, Giulio Corda, Valerio Di Rocco, Domenico Imperato, Libera Candida D’Aurelio, Erika Secondino, Manu Limina, Peppe Nardone, Giulia Di Nicola, Franco Mannella, Chiara Colizzi, Andrea Iarlori, Still Life With Cat, Vincenzo Olivieri, ‘Nduccio, Fausto and Mimmo Agresta dei Bolidi, the Moscufo Philharmonic and the stable orchestra of Marrucino Theater of Chieti etc.
Among all his active collaborations both live and in the studio, the ones he likes to remember include one as double bass player for the great singer-songwriter Mimmo Locasciulli and one as the bassist for the Geoff Warren Quartet, with English flautist Geoff Warren, pianist Raffaele Pallozzi and drummer Bruno Marcozzi.
Finally, as a soloist, his most recent album “Volo Basso” is noteworthy. This record is entirely dedicated to the world of electric bass, created with the irreplaceable support of Markbass and produced by Wide Sound and Bess Recording Studio.
