Considered one of the best Mexican bass players of all time, Alonso Arreola has been surrounded by great figures of rock, pop and national and international jazz (Mike Garson, Pat Mastelotto, David Fiuczynski, Alejandro Sanz, Jaime Lopez, Denise Gutierrez , among many others).
Whether as a soloist, as a member of La Barranca (from 2001 to 2007), with his own quintet or with the groups he currently has (Arreola + Carballo, Monocordio and 3Below with Trey Gunn and Michael Manring), he has played in the main festivals (including 5 times in Vive Latino) and forums in the country (National Auditorium, Metropólita Theater, etc.), as well as in Portugal, England, Argentina, United States, Cuba, France, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Colombia, Paraguay and Japan .

He has also made short films (Monster) and live films, as well as literary projects (The horizontal particles together with the French writer Michel Houellebecq) and other multidisciplinary ones such as Arreola by Arreola, Beasts and Prodigies around the work of his grandfather the writer Juan José Arreola, who also published an epistolary book with his brother (Sara más amarás, Joaquín Mortiz).

As a teacher, Alonso founded the LabA didactic workshop in which he teaches more than 40 bass players and has given lectures and master classes in different universities and institutions in Mexico. He has also built a career as an editor and journalist doing coverage and interviews in America, Europe, Asia and Africa. He currently collaborates in numerous magazines and for more than ten years he has maintained his Sunday column Bemol Sostenido in La Jornada Semanal.
